ABOUT

The GPLC is a biannual strategic high level convening by the Global Peace Foundation and strategic partners which brings together leaders from government, business, academia, the non-profit sector, and the faith community to meet and exchange perspectives on effective leadership in complex and diverse societies.

It is held as a private public partnership with hosting governments and multilateral agencies with participants coming from the region and various parts of the world. The Nairobi Conference marks the 10th Anniversary since the 2010 Global Peace Convention which was held in Nairobi under the patronage of President Mwai Kibaki.

In the GPLC 2018, Kenyan President sent Cabinet Secretary Hon. Eugene Wamalwa to represent him at the 2018 Global Peace Leadership Conference (GPLC) East Africa / Great Lakes Region held at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort in Kampala under the patronage of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The Nairobi GPLC will be an occasion to highlight Kenya’s experience, competencies and unrelenting search for peace and prosperity in the horn of Africa including efforts such as the stabilization of Somali, Sudan, South Sudan, the many years of contributing troops to UN peacekeeping operations across the world.

Transforming Education Track​

Educators, administrators, partners and education policy makers from the region will examine modern tools, systems, best practices and initiatives that transforms education outcomes and ensure that learners graduate with ethical values, creativity, entrepreneurship, leadership skills and an ethos of peace and service. Transforming education is important to ensure learners graduate with the competencies desired by the 21 st century employer and skills to create jobs and innovations.

Peacebuilding in the Digital Age Track

The Internet and new technologies are increasingly influencing not only the way people respond to and recover from conflicts, but also the way they further engage in conflict transformation and peacebuilding. Part of creating communities that can advance peacebuilding is harnessing the power of technology to bring people together, promote conflict management and resolution, and create the public will to change attitudes and behaviors.

How can businesses and investments become catalyst for sustainable peace and economic priority in the region and across boarders
